Hallicrafters S-53 (1948-50)
Fully restored.
For sale this beautiful classic receiver from Hallicrafters. Completely restored, where all the details were taken care of to look like new.
In this set, the cabinet has been completely painted, the front panel has been meticulously restored, the lettering is original. All the components in this front panel were disassembled for its complete restoration, getting the results you can see.
Internally the radio looks excellent, all the pieces were disassembled for its complete restoration.
In the internal part of the chassis, all the old film and electrolytic capacitors were replaced by new components, as well the defective mica capacitors and out of tolerance resistors, respecting their original location and arrangement in order to maintain the originality of the wiring; the wires in bad condition were also replaced.
A thorough cleaning of the entire chassis was performed.
To complete the restoration, identical reproductions of the labels were placed on the chassis.
Finally, a complete alignment was made following the manufacturer's instructions, using laboratory-grade equipment for this purpose. It is working properly in the four bands, AM, CW, and even SSB.

Restoration in details
Cosmetic:
All the components in the cabinet were completely disassembled for an effective cleaning.
The cabinet was painted, fully restored.
The front panel was completely restored, new paint, the lettering are original, perfectly restored.
The knobs were ultrasonically cleaned. The red marks were repainted.
The pointers were repainted.
The dial glass windows were cleaned.
Each screw in the cabinet were cleaned. All are originals.
All new rubber feet.
Electronic and chassis:
All the components in the chassis were completely disassembled for cleaning.
The rust spots in the chassis were removed. It
was deep cleaned.
IF transformers cans and other components were cleaned and polished.
The main tuning capacitor and band spread capacitor were dismounted, cleaned and lubricated.
Electrolytic
capacitor,
film capacitors and defective mica capacitors were repleced with modern components.
The resistors out of tolerance were replaced with new component.
Switches and electric wafers were cleaned and lubed with special products.
The vacuum tubes were checked and the defective tubes were replaced with NOS tube. All the tubes are the factory correct number.
A new polarized electric cord was installed.
Electric wires in bad condition were changed.
The dialing mechanism were completely disassembled, cleaned and lubricated.
The dial cords are new.
