Hammarlund Super Pro SP-200, Receiver, Power Supply and Speaker, Needs Work

$ 132

  • Brand: Hammarlund
  • Condition: This radio was handed down to me from a distant relative. It has not been used in several decades. As I recall, I last turned it on in the '80s, and it worked then, but the insulation on the wires was starting to become brittle, so I let it sit, figuring I would re-wire it someday. That hasn't happened yet, and so probably never will, so I'm selling it to someone who has the time.

    Description

    As you can tell from the photos, this is not in bad shape for a unit built in the late '30s. It has been sitting for years in a room in our house. The insulation on a lot of the wires is dried up or gone, so at the very least it needs to be re-wired.  All the knobs turn, but the dial escutcheons have warped over the years, so they don't move freely.  Also, sometime back in the '70s, the 'S-Meter' failed and the only replacement I could find at the time was a meter I found at a surplus store. The lamp housing that goes in the original meter is just flopping around. The original cable that goes from the power supply to the receiver is in fairly good shape, and somehow a spare, of lesser quality, was also supplied. The speaker that was hooked up to all this is a Jensen 15" driver (A15 B5314), and the cone is in very good shape for its age. Given the size and weight of all this, I'm offering it for local pick-up only.  Given the reputation of this model, and prices good ones command, I'll start this at 0 and go from there. I will consider any reasonable offer.
