    Description

    A BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC TRANSMITTER
    2-NT
    WORKS OR YOU RETURN IT
(SORRY HAD A GLITCH AND NEEDED TO RELIST)
IN 1957 A SMALL COMPANY IN THE VILLAGE OF MIAMISBURG, OHIO SHOCKED THE AMATEUR RADIO WORLD BY INTRODUCING THE DRAKE 1A RECEIVER. WHILE SMALL AND COMPACT, IT OUTPERFORMED MANY OF THE BIG BOYS IN HAM RADIO SUCH AS HALLICRAFTERS, NATIONAL, AND OTHERS.
DRAKE (NAMED FOR ITS FOUNDER) WENT ON TO PRODUCE MANY HIGH QUALITY HAM RECEIVERS AND TRANSMITTERS.
THIS IS THE DRAKE 2NT TRANSMITTER. IT WAS INTRODUCED IN 1966 WITH THE NOVICE CLASS IN MIND. THE RIG COULD RUN ABOUT 100 WATTS ON CW AND HAD MARKINGS FOR 75 WATTS -- THE OLD NOVICE LIMIT AT THE TIME. IT OPERATES THE "OLD" HAM BANDS 80, 40, 20, 15 AND 10 METERS.
THIS ONE LOOKS VERY NICE.  THE CABINET HAS NO REAL DINGS/DENTS AND THE CHASSIS IS STRAIGHT AND NOT TRANSGENDER. THERE'S A LITTLE SCRATCH ON THE FRONT PANEL, BUT IT'S NOT TOO NOTICABLE.  CHECK IT OUT.
THE BOTTOM OF THE CHASSIS IS GREAT -- BRIGHT SHINY COPPER.  THE TOP OF THE CHASSIS, IS WELL, NOT SO NICE. IT HAS STAINS AND SOME CORROSION. BUT FORTUNATELY IT DOES NOT IMPACT THE FUNCTIONING OF THE UNIT.
ALL KNOBS ARE ORIGINAL AND THE METER WORKS FINE.
I BROUGHT IT UP WITH A VARIAC AND IT CAME TO LIFE. SOLID OUTPUT ON 80 AND 40 METERS.  DIDN'T TRY THE OTHER BANDS BUT NO REASON TO BELIEVE THEY WOULD NOT WORK.
THIS RIG IS KIND OF UNIQUE IN THAT IT HAS BREAK-IN KEYING, SOMETHING ONLY FOUND IN MORE EXPENSIVE RIGS AT THE TIME.
ALL IN ALL, IT'S A GREAT LOOKING, WORKING TRANSMITTER. WHILE IT WILL WORK OUT OF THE BOX, THE NEW OWNER MAY WANT TO TWEAK IT A BIT WITH THE ALIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOUND ON LINE. ALSO, IF I WERE USING IT DAILY, I'D REPLACE THE FILTER CAPS -- CHEAP TO DO AND MAY SAVE A TRANSFORMER.
FOR A NOMINAL FEE I WILL MARK THE BOX WITH WORDING SAYING "AUTOMOTIVE PARTS" IF IT HELPS KEEP PEACE WITH THE XYL. ASK FOR DETAILS.
    NO RESERVE.  QUESTIONS?  JUST ASK.
