    During Vietnam war, the
    573rd Transportation Detachment
    "LOAD MASTER" was the very important maintenance unit within the 33rd Transportation Company / 118th Assault Helicopter Company. Normally commanded by a Transportation Corps officer, the Detachment was responsible for all the second and third echelon level maintenance on the helicopters. The front line maintenance was accomplished by the Crew Chief. Then he was backed up and supported by the 573rd Transportation Detachment.
