    I have the ability to find very nice antiques through my estate sales, auctions, etc; and this is one of them. This is an original Vietnam era, American, 1st Infantry Division patch. Cut edge. The picture above represents an example of the patch being sold but NOT the exact patch as they are all relatively the same so there is no need to photograph each patch.     Some history...The 1st Division was the in the first wave during the invasion of Normandy, June 6th, 1944.  Some units suffered an appalling 30% casualties within the first hour on Omaha beach.  This unit was credited with destroying the German 352nd Infantry division which was one of the few crack German Divisions on the beaches of Omaha beach.  They fought their way into Germany and saw extensive action.  They fought in eight campaigns and sadly, suffered 20,650 men killed and wounded.  The "Big Red One" fought with distinction during WWII.
